July 2024
Gloom about human-induced climate change and our impacts on flora and fauna can seem unrelenting. However, a new study offers hope and suggests that our efforts to protect nature can turn the tide on biodiversity loss. In this month’s cover story, Mark Rowe reports on some of the conservation projects from around the world that have had a positive and significant impact so far.
Also in the July issue: we launch our new feature, Geographical Country Profiles, in which we take a deep dive into one of Africa’s smallest and most densely populated countries – Rwanda; we investigate how changes to visa requirements could impact the UK’s fishing industry, currently dependent on migrant labour; and we report on the health impacts of a dangerous pesticide, banned in Europe, but which we continue to export to countries in Asia.
